Background
Operation Self-Reliance (OSR) is an initiative launched in 2018 by several for-profit and non-profit groups working to create five off-grid, self-reliance communities along the Rocky Mountains, from Arizona into Alberta, Canada. To that end, OSR created the Utah OSR Land Co-op and led that co-op in the creation of OSR’s first off-grid community, Riverbed Ranch. Those currently leading the OSR initiative include Philip Gleason of OSR Green, LLC, Larry Jones, and Jesse Fisher of NewSalem Web Services (owner of this website).
To continue its mission, OSR has also created the Arizona OSR Land Co-op, which is launching a second off-grid community, Coslor Cove. OSR also plans to create additional co-ops in Idaho, Wyoming, and Alberta, Canada.
The current majority of board members of the Utah OSR Land Co-op apparently wish to distance themselves from the OSR initiative and its future creations. Here is the disclaimer the board is considering:
